Rolex Datejust 36 Reference 126234, Mint Green Dial: A Modern Classic
The mint green Rolex Datejust 36 configuration m126234-0051 pairs a 36 mm White Rolesor case with a fluted white-gold bezel, Jubilee bracelet and calibre 3235.

The Rolex Datejust has never needed to shout. Since its launch in 1945, it has built its reputation on proportion, legibility and everyday usefulness. The current Datejust 36 reference 126234 continues that formula with a 36 mm Oyster case, automatic movement and instantly recognizable date display. In the mint green configuration coded m126234-0051, it adds a contemporary dial without giving up the details that make a Datejust unmistakable.
This specific watch pairs a mint green dial with a fluted white-gold bezel and a Jubilee bracelet. It is a balanced configuration: more expressive than a traditional silver or black dial, but restrained enough to remain versatile.
The exact reference and configuration
Rolex identifies the watch as the Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36, reference 126234. The full model code for the mint green dial and Jubilee bracelet configuration discussed here is m126234-0051.
That distinction matters. Reference 126234 is offered in multiple dial and bracelet combinations, so buyers should verify the complete configuration rather than relying on the base reference alone. Dial color, bracelet type, condition and completeness can all affect desirability and value.
A 36 mm case with enduring proportions
The watch uses Rolex’s 36 mm Oyster case in White Rolesor, the brand’s term for the combination of Oystersteel and white gold. In this model, the case and bracelet are Oystersteel while the fluted bezel is white gold.
The 36 mm diameter is central to the character of the Datejust. It has enough presence to feel substantial, yet it retains the restrained proportions associated with the model’s long history. Wrist shape and personal preference matter more than simple measurements, so trying the watch on is still the best way to judge fit.
The Oyster architecture includes a monobloc middle case, screw-down case back and screw-down winding crown. Rolex rates the watch to 100 metres, or 330 feet, of water resistance. The Twinlock crown and sapphire crystal make it practical for regular wear, while the Cyclops lens magnifies the date at 3 o’clock.
Why the mint green dial works

The mint green dial gives the reference a fresher personality without changing the underlying Datejust design. Its sunray finish creates shifting reflections as the watch moves. Rolex explains that this effect is produced by fine brushing that creates grooves radiating from the center. The color is then applied by Physical Vapour Deposition or electroplating before a light coat of varnish completes the surface.
Applied hour markers and hands use Rolex’s Chromalight display, which emits a blue glow in low light. The overall layout remains clean and familiar: central hours, minutes and seconds, plus the date window under the Cyclops lens.
The dial can appear lighter or deeper depending on the surroundings, which is part of its appeal. Prospective buyers should view the watch under both daylight and indoor lighting before deciding.
The fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet
The fluted bezel is one of the most recognizable Datejust signatures. Rolex notes that the fluting originally served a functional purpose by allowing the bezel to be screwed to the case for water resistance. On the modern 126234, it is a decorative element made in white gold.
The five-piece-link Jubilee bracelet was created for the launch of the Datejust in 1945. On this configuration it adds texture and a dressier character than an Oyster bracelet would. The bracelet is secured by a folding Oysterclasp and includes Rolex’s Easylink extension, which allows approximately 5 mm of adjustment for comfort.
Calibre 3235
Inside is Rolex manufacture calibre 3235, a self-winding mechanical movement. It offers central hours, minutes and seconds, an instantaneous date with rapid setting, and stop-seconds for precise time setting.
Rolex states a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. The movement uses a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring and high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers. As a Superlative Chronometer, the completed watch is rated by Rolex to an accuracy of minus 2 to plus 2 seconds per day after casing, in addition to official chronometer certification.
For an owner rotating between several watches, the roughly 70-hour reserve is especially useful. Set down on Friday evening, the watch may still be running on Monday morning, depending on its state of wind.

What to check before buying
For a new example, buy through an Official Rolex Jeweler and confirm the exact model code, dial and bracelet on the paperwork. Availability can vary, and the current retail price should always be confirmed directly because pricing is subject to change.
For a pre-owned example, inspect more than cosmetic condition. Confirm that the case, dial, hands, bezel, bracelet and clasp correspond to the stated configuration. Check the warranty card, service history and seller’s return policy. Make sure the rapid-set date, winding, crown operation and Easylink extension work correctly.
Polishing deserves attention. A lightly worn watch can often be preferable to one polished aggressively enough to soften case edges or alter the fluting. Bracelet wear, clasp condition and crystal damage should also be reflected in the asking price.
Authentication should be performed by a qualified watchmaker or an established Rolex specialist. A model number or a set of photographs alone is not enough to establish authenticity.

The Rallo view
The Datejust 36 reference 126234 succeeds because its modern elements are built around a proven design. The mint green dial supplies personality, while the white-gold fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet preserve the model’s traditional identity. Calibre 3235 adds contemporary performance without changing the watch’s familiar character.
For buyers seeking one luxury watch that can move comfortably between casual and formal settings, this is a compelling configuration. It is recognizably Rolex, but its appeal rests as much on proportion and utility as on status.
