Rolex Submariner Date 126610LV: The Details Worth Knowing Before You Buy
A practical collector's guide to Rolex Submariner Date reference 126610LV: its black dial, green Cerachrom bezel, calibre 3235 and the details to verify before buying pre-owned.

The Rolex Submariner Date reference 126610LV is instantly recognizable for one precise combination: an Oystersteel case and Oyster bracelet, a black dial, and a green ceramic bezel insert. It is often given a casual nickname in the market, but the correct Rolex model name and reference are Submariner Date, reference 126610LV.
That distinction matters. A green Rolex Submariner is not automatically a 126610LV, and a correct-looking bezel is not a substitute for a careful inspection of the entire watch.

The factory configuration
Rolex currently specifies the 126610LV as a 41 mm Oystersteel Submariner Date with a unidirectional 60-minute bezel fitted with a green Cerachrom ceramic insert. The dial is black, the bracelet is the three-link Oyster bracelet, and the date is displayed beneath a Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock.
The case has a screw-down Triplock crown and is rated water-resistant to 300 metres / 1,000 feet. Inside is Rolex calibre 3235, a self-winding movement with a stated power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Rolex rates the completed watch to -2/+2 seconds per day after casing.
Those are factory specifications, not authentication shortcuts. Modern replicas may imitate individual features convincingly; a buyer should assess the complete watch, its provenance, condition, and seller together.
Why the green-and-black pairing works
Earlier green-bezel Submariners help explain why this reference is so often misunderstood. The 126610LV does not have a green dial. Its visual identity comes from the contrast between a black dial and the green bezel insert. That makes it a different configuration from the preceding Submariner Date 116610LV, which paired a green dial with a green bezel.
For a collector, this is more than trivia. It is one of the quickest ways to make sure a listing description, photos, and reference number are all telling the same story.
Five details to check in a listing
1. Reference and configuration: The listing should identify reference 126610LV and show the black dial, green Cerachrom bezel, and Oyster bracelet together.
2. Case proportions: The current reference is 41 mm. Do not assume an older 40 mm green Submariner is the same model.
3. Date presentation: The date sits at 3 o’clock under the Cyclops lens. Examine clear, straight-on photos rather than relying on a heavily edited image.
4. Bracelet and clasp: Rolex specifies an Oyster bracelet with solid three-piece links, an Oysterlock safety clasp, and the Glidelock extension system. Request clear clasp and bracelet photos, including both sides.
5. Paperwork and history: A card, box, or receipt can support the story of a watch, but none should be treated as stand-alone proof. Compare the watch itself, the documentation, service history, and the seller’s reputation before committing.
What to ask a seller
A serious listing should make careful due diligence easy. Ask for recent, unedited photos of the dial, rehaut, bezel, crown side, case back, bracelet, clasp, and the full set if included. Confirm whether the bracelet has been resized and whether spare links are present. Ask about polishing, service work, replacement parts, timing results, and any warranty being offered.
For a meaningful purchase, independent authentication and an inspection by a qualified watchmaker remain sensible steps. Water resistance should never be assumed from appearance or a prior owner’s description; have it pressure-tested before swimming or diving with a pre-owned watch.
The RALLO take
The 126610LV is compelling because it stays within the classic Submariner Date formula while making one deliberate change in color. The best buying decision is not driven by a nickname or a single photograph. It comes from matching the reference, configuration, condition, documentation, and seller into one coherent package.
